The award cited the Commission’s "one government" approach to planning and an "unwavering commitment to engage with key stakeholders and the community". It went on to say the Commission had set a new benchmark for the way it collaborates and plans for our future cities and that the prioritisation of the "GPOP" Olympic Corridor between Westmead and Strathfield and the Badgerys Creek enterprise zone has been "ground-breaking".

Greater Sydney Commission CEO Sarah Hill said developing good policy while engaging the community, all levels of government, industry, business groups and other stakeholders was fundamental to the Commission’s vision and work so far.
