New metro to Western Sydney Airport ‘will transform the Western Parkland City’

12 Jun 2020
The new metro line, to link the Western Sydney Aerotropolis, the Western Sydney International (Nancy Bird Walton) Airport and the main western line at St Marys will be as important to the Western City as the Harbour Bridge was to Greater Sydney’s northside, according to Chief Commissioner Geoff Roberts AM.

Geoff was a leading proponent for the new line, which was identified in the Greater Sydney Region Plan – A Metropolis of Three Cities – as key infrastructure not only for transport connections but to bring new businesses and jobs to the Western Parkland City.

“The new metro will be one of the most important and life-changing pieces of infrastructure in Western Sydney’s history. It will be a massive leap forward, making the Metropolis of Three Cities vision real by driving Greater Sydney’s productivity, liveability and sustainability in the Western Parkland City for decades to come,” Geoff said.

“As the Greater Sydney Region Plan set out two years ago, this rail link, the new international airport and the Aerotropolis are central to Greater Sydney’s new Western Economic Corridor which will deliver long term jobs and investment,” he said.
