The Greater Sydney Commission is inviting young people aged 16-30, to submit their ideas on how to tackle issues relating to housing and liveability, environmental sustainability and youth employment.

The Young Changemakers Challenge, being launched today by the Greater Sydney Commission Youth Panel, is a platform for young Sydneysiders to tackle real-world issues and help shape the future of Greater Sydney.

Young people are invited to create a short video, explaining their idea on how to address one of the competition categories - housing and liveability, environmental sustainability and youth employment.

Three finalists from each category will be chosen, and paired with mentors from industry and government to help further develop their ideas before they pitch them to the panel of judges. The winning ideas will be incorporated into future work published by the Commission.

Eastern City District Youth Panel Member, and Panel Co-Chair, Jayden Bregu said the Challenge was a unique opportunity for young people to have their say and to work with respected and experienced leaders to develop their ideas.

"We wanted to create an opportunity for young people across Greater Sydney to think critically, problem solve and be involved in developing the solutions to key issues impacting them."

"This challenge will enable young people to help shape the future of Greater Sydney so that it meets their needs", Mr Bregu said.

Commission CEO, Elizabeth Mildwater encouraged young people to come forward with their ideas.

"For many reasons, young people are often under-represented when it comes to providing feedback on big city-shaping projects, plans and infrastructure that will impact their future", Ms Mildwater said.

|We want to change that. The Challenge is a great way for young people to have their say on how they think we should solve some of Greater Sydney's challenges", she said.
